Favourites time is back again! After several months of doing my favourites as YouTube videos, I've decided to come back to the blog so I hope you like my post.
Starting with skincare favourites, I finally cracked open my Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm that I've had stashed away for months. I can safely say, this is my FAVOURITE cleansing balm EVER! It had to be the most expensive, didn't it?! I love the scent of it and it makes using it really enjoyable just for that reason but it does have other benefits. It's a soft balm texture that melts into an oil when you massage it into the skin. Luckily, a little goes a long way with this so it shouldn't run out too quickly. It is great for use all over the face, even around the eyes as there's no stinging with this. It removes makeup really well and leaves the face feeling really clean but very hydrated. I can use this at night, forget to moisturise and my skin doesn't feel dry or tight the next morning, yay! I love the cloth that comes with this too. It's a muslin cloth on one side and a flannel on the other. Best of both worlds!
The next three products are from The Body Shop which I've been loving recently! The Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil is an amazing night treatment that feels luxurious to use and does a fantastic job at adding lots of moisture into my skin. At only £13, this is a very good budget friendly product. You don't have to spend a fortune to get good skincare. I still want the Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial though ;)
The Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate* is a brilliant eye serum that hydrates my eye area really well so that my concealer can go on beautifully. I also find that it tightens the skin up a little, even though I don't have bags or wrinkles. The rollerball applicator is so soothing and cooling which helps me to wake up in the mornings. I've got a full review on this product here.
Another product I've been loving from The Body Shop Vitamin E range is the Hydrating Toner. I love hydrating/soothing toners and whilst the Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner will probably always be my number one, it's quite expensive so it's good to find alternatives every once in a while. A lot of toners have a water-like consistency but I find this a little different. It has a silky feel to it, as though there are a few drops of serum or moisturiser in there. It's very soothing on the skin and is a great step in my hydrating skincare routine.
I've been absolutely loving NARS after adding a few more products to my stash in September. Two new launches from NARS have made it straight into my favourites this month. First up, the Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Callisto is beautiful. It has a very smooth texture and is extremely pigmented. I described this shade as a 'grown-up silver' in my Modern Autumn Makeup post as it's a metallic silver with finely milled shimmer running through it but it's not a harsh silver colour. I feel like it maybe has a tiny hint of purple or something to soften it. This is perfect for a night out.
I lusted after the NARS Audacious Lipsticks as soon as I saw them on American blogs and spent a long time narrowly down colour choices. In the end I went with Janet, a gorgeous berry shade as I think it screams Autumn. I can always add Spring and Summer choices to my collection later! The pigmentation on this is amazing and because it's more of a satin finish, it lasts for hours! Check out my Modern Autumn Makeup post to see it on the lips. I also love the packaging on this as it's not the usual matte rubber. It's a metal case with a magnetic lid. Very sleek indeed.
The Body Shop InstaBlur Eye* has been my favourite eye primer this month. It has a lovely smooth, mousse texture that really helps even out the colour of your eye area and makes a great base for any eyeshadow. I also find that it helps increase the wear time of my eyeshadow and makes the colour look more intense. I've got a full blog post on it here.
I've had a thing for palettes this month, as you're about to find out. The Urban Decay Naked 2 is a new palette in my collection. I don't know why I didn't buy this one straight away when I had the other two but I'm just glad I have it now. Cool toned shades always work better on my skintone and I'm loving these shades. The formula is as you'd expect for Urban Decay, buttery soft with strong pigmentation. I do need to experiment with this a little more but so far my favourite shade is Suspect.
Another palette of cool neutral shades and it's called, yep, the MAC Cool Neutral Palette, funnily enough! I sort of forgot about this palette for a few months but now I've picked it up again, I love it even more than before. The eyeshadows seem to apply much easier and look more intense now. I think it's because MAC eyeshadows can take a little bit of softening up or something to make them come out of the pan easier. You can probably see from the photo which shades I've been using most but I need to set some time aside to play with the darker shades. I bet they would look gorgeous for this time of year.
Now on to a cheek palette and it's the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box o' Blushes. I blogged about this as soon as I got my hands on it here but it has certainly lived up to my expectations. I'm so glad to have my hands on all of these blushes now as some of them I'd never tried but wanted to for years. Every occasion is covered with this set and the packaging is so cute too.
