Collective Haul: April 2014

This month I've tried not to buy as much as I normally do. I guess I have succeeded, although looking at these photos may lead you to believe otherwise! Honestly, this is good for me!

The bulk of my buys have, of course, been beauty products. That's what I love so it ain't gonna stop any time soon! I have noticed a bit of a neon trend throughout some of my purchases so I'm obviously hoping it will get sunny and hot soon.

The Soap & Glory Orangeasm Body Wash was on my wishlist as soon as I saw it on someone's instagram. I just love their body washes as they are always so creamy and nourishing on the skin. I haven't tried this yet as I have a lot of other things to use up first but from sniffing it in the bottle, it's not as orangey as I expected. It actually smells more of lemons than oranges! It's still nice though.

After buying around 5 or 6 bottles of the L'Oreal Paris Micellar Water, I thought it was about time to try the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water as so many people are raving about it. You get a rather massive bottle for the price so it should last quite a while.

I often get a bit of an itchy scalp so I tend to alternate shampoos with something like Head & Shoulders to keep the itching to a minimum but I spotted the Klorane Shampoo with Peony a few weeks ago and saw that it was for irritated scalps and I'd wanted to buy it ever since. As I'm getting to the end of some other shampoo I thought I could just about squeeze this one into my shower cubicle so bought it the other day! It gets bonus points for being French too.

Some other hair products I've bought lately are from Charles Worthington at Boots. I needed a new heat protection spray as my trusty Lee Stafford one was nearing empty and I fancied a change so while the products were on 2 for £8 I picked up their Heat Defence Spray along with the much hyped Texturising Spray. I've only tried the Heat Defence Spray so far but I really like it as it dispenses just the right amount of product and it smells gorgeous.

After seeing the Models Own Polish for Tans collection online I knew I wanted some of the shades. I went for (left to right) Beach Bag, Shades and Sun Hat as they are gorgeous wearable colours. Whilst the yellow and green ones are nice, I thought I'd limit myself to my three favourites! This collection is supposed to enhance and compliment your tan. I NEVER tan but I'm sure they will still look nice against my pale skin. If not, I'm wearing 'em anyway! Before I even found the Models Own ones in store, I actually saw the Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neons collection which I hadn't seen online. I obviously needed to try these even though I knew I'd be getting the Models Own. I went for the (left to right) Coral Heat and Tropink shades which look quite similar to two of the Models Own ones but I'd say the Models Own ones look slightly more vibrant.

I was in Fenwick and must have got bored of looking at makeup so wandered to the body care sections and started looking at the Rituals area. I was drawn to the Shanti Chakra Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil Caring Body Oil Spray for some reason and sprayed the tester on to my hand. Oh my, this smells sooo good! It's just a really sexy scent and the oil feels so moisturising but not too heavy. I also fancied a different hand cream and hadn't tried anything from Melvita before so decided to pick up the Extra-Rich Moisturising Care Hand Cream in the smaller size to try. Whilst browsing the Melvita range I saw something I liked the look of but I have so much skincare to get through I didn't buy it. It was the Rose Extraordinary Water and it sounded like a real treat for the skin and I love rose at the moment too. When I was at the till I noticed a large jar of sample sachets including the Rose Extraordinary Water so I asked if I could take a sample and the lovely lady said I could have as many as I liked! Excellent! I picked up 4 but could have easily chosen more if I hadn't been bothered about looking greedy! The lady also gave me the 50ml Yogi Flow Foaming Shower Gel Sensation too so that was a nice surprise. If it smells anything like the oil, I'm in for a real treat.

One week, I went to town on a mission to buy some of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets but after swatching some I wasn't really that bothered about them(!) so for some reason ended up on the Sleek counter. I'd read good things about the Matte Me Lip Creams so I decided to pick up the shades Petal and Party Pink as they looked gorgeous. Fast forward a week and  there I was at the Bourjois counter again, this time deciding that I needed the Rouge Edition Velvet in Ole Flamingo. It's a really pretty shade and my favourite out of the range. I think I did well limiting myself to one haha.

I happened to have a rare look around the Burts Bees counter and found this Revitalising Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate. As soon as I read those words I NEEDED it! Hope it smells as good as it sounds.

Whilst on the Sleek counter as mentioned before, I picked up a few other bits. I went for the i-Divine Oh So Special Palette as I've admired the lighter colours in this for ages but they always used to be messed up and used in my local Superdrug so it put me off. Now they keep them locked in the drawer and you have to ask someone to get them for you so I got a nice new untouched one! I also bought a Blush By 3 palette. I've had one of these before but a powder version. This Californ.I.A version has three beautiful cream blushes in peach and coral tones perfect for Spring and Summer.

Whilst having a random browse in Next I spotted this bright orange-coral cross body bag and loved the colour and the gold hardware so decided it had to be mine for the Summer. It was £20 so not bad at all.

I even manage to find extra things to buy whilst doing my food shopping! Normally it's the homeware section at Asda that catches my eye but recently they've had some neon colours at the front of the shop so I had to investigate! They had lots of t shirts and vests for £4 so I picked up these bright ones along with some simple black and grey ones. I then spotted this pretty pink bra for only £4 too. It's good to find cheaper DD+ bras!

So I think that's everything I bought in April. Hope you enjoyed this post :)

  5. I've picked up the Models Own for tans varnish in Shades but haven't actually tried it out yet. I really want to try one of the Bourjois Rouge Edition velvets but am trying to be good! I'm sure I'll probably cave in at some point and I think Ole Flamingo one will probably be the one I go for x
