FOTN: Trying out some new products

Last weekend I went out for some cocktails in town with my cousin and I thought it was a good occasion to try some of my new makeup. In particular, I really wanted to try my NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation in the shade Siberia. I don't wear foundation on a daily basis so this was my first night out since I received it for Christmas. I also fancied trying one of my NARS blushes and using my Naked 3 palette. Another new product was the YSL Gloss Volupte I bought with my Boots points the other week.

I used the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara from my Maybelline haul and I'm not that keen on it really. I don't think it's as good as their Rocket Volum' mascara which I love. This doesn't really volumise or lengthen my lashes that well. I do quite like the smaller brush for the lower lashes as it does a good job at separating and defining those. I did buy the waterproof version of this by mistake so I'm not sure if I'm not liking it because of that, maybe the non waterproof version is better. I won't be buying this again to find out though!

I haven't used my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer much since I bought it as every time I try it under my eyes I can't seem to blend it in very well. I need to have a proper go with this when I get more time so for this look I used my bareMinerals Stroke of Light concealer under my eyes with a slight bit of the NARS concealer over the top for a bit of extra coverage. I still need to give my Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer Kit a go! I can just see that taking a bit of time to use as well so once I've had a proper go, I think I'll do a post on it so I can show the effects of using it.

I really love the NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation. It was a bit strange getting used to using a cream compact when I'm more used to a liquid foundation but the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge works really well with this. This foundation is so easy to smooth on to the face and the tip of the sponge makes for easy blending around the nose area. I found this to be a full coverage foundation that covered my spots and redness up whilst leaving a dewy finish. After taking this photo, I did decide to add a little powder over my forehead, nose and chin to set the makeup but I do love the finish of this foundation. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and it lasted well for the 6 hours I had it on.

I love the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette for the fab range of wearable shades. I only used one of the shades for this look though as I wanted to keep the eyes quite simple so I went for the pretty 'Dust' shade. It's a gorgeous light shimmery pink gold shade with small pieces of glitter in. I did get a little fall out with this but I expected it to be honest!

Following the pink eyes and lips theme, I went for a bright blue based pink on the cheeks too. I chose NARS Blush in Gaiety and as you can see, it doesn't transfer on to the cheeks quite as bright, which is good! You can easily build this up to the intensity you want and I think it looks really pretty. I'm looking forward to using this more and giving my other NARS Blushes some love too.

That's it for the makeup but I wanted to share a few pics of some lovely cocktails. I had a gorgeous Bubblegum Daiquiri that was like a bright pink slush with popping candy on. It was delicious but I forgot to take a photo of that one! After being rather chilly from that cocktail, my cousin and I spotted some hot cocktails on a menu in a different bar so despite feeling a bit silly, we chose those! They were like liquid Terry's Chocolate Orange! So good! I had to have a good old Amaretto Sour too while my cousin had a lovely Strawberry cocktail that tasted so nice!

  2. I have Big Eyes and I quite like it. It works rather well on my lashes, but I've used better mascaras. The formula is REALLY easy to get off though. The easiest of all the mascaras I've ever used which is a good pro I think, haha! x
