December 2013 Favourites

Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2014 is treating you well so far. Today I wanted to share my favourite products from December (and probably a bit of November since I didn't blog any favourites that month!).

Viva La Juicy La Fleur perfume - I bought this perfume in a set from the Boxing Day sales last year and keep forgetting I have it. It's such a beautiful fragrance though. It's really girly and feminine without being super sweet. I'd describe it as a soft floral scent with a hint of fruitiness. I have the rollerball version too so it's great to spray from the full bottle for a night out then top up throughout the evening. I wish you could buy rollerball versions of all scents!

Soap & Glory Hand Dream - This hand cream is a fairly new addition to the Soap & Glory line up and it has the usual signature scent that a lot of their products have. I've been enjoying using this as I climb into bed to soften my hands without leaving them feeling greasy. The product sinks in quickly and the scent is quite soothing before bed. I wouldn't say this is the most moisturising hand cream but I do have super dry hands! I think I wash them too often or something...

Time Bomb Complexion Cocktail with a shot of B12* - I've already done a full review of this product which you can read here but the short version of why I really like it is that it's rather good for hungover, spotty skin. The hyaluronic acid does a great job at smoothing my skin and lightly buffing away dead skin cells. It also speeds up the process of getting rid of spots and even stopped a few in their tracks before they raised their ugly heads!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored - This was a limited edition product from the Summer which  I forgot to use but when I had some nights out in November/December I pulled this one out and absolutely fell in love with it. I guess it's classed as more of a highlighter which I'm assuming it would be on darker skin tones but I really like using this as a glowy blush on my pale skin. It's really beautiful and I'll be on the look out for more Mineralize Skinfinishes in this year's collections.

L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder in Light - Powder is rather a boring purchase in my opinion so I haven't bought a new one for years. After loving a lot of the new L'Oreal releases this year I decided to buy this powder as it seemed to be a great match for my skin tone and I hadn't seen a 'BB powder' before. This powder goes on soft and smooth with no caking on the skin. It does a great job at slightly mattifying the skin without drying it out. I wouldn't say this has enough coverage to be used instead of foundation though unless you have perfect skin already!

Bourjois Color Edition 24H in Petale de Glace - This little pot looks like a MAC Paint Pot / Maybelline Color Tattoo style product but it's quite unique in the way that it has a cream to powder finish. It's really easy to swipe on and blend with your fingers. I've been wearing this every weekend for a super simple look.

e.l.f. Eyelid Primer in Sheer - This is a super cheap eyeshadow primer that keeps my eyeshadow on all day. It's also great at evening the skin tone on my eyelids prior to eyeshadow application.

Maybelline Color Show Brocades collection nail polishes in Foil Flash, Rosy Rosettes and Knitted Gold - Glitter polishes are a must for the festive season so these were well used in November and December. The Knitted Gold colour is my favourite as it has rose gold glitter chunks in a gold glitter base. The great thing about these polishes is that you don't need a base colour underneath. You can get a full opaque look with 2/3 layers of these due to the tiny bits of glitter/shimmer polish as well as the larger pieces.

Essie nail polish in Toggle to the Top - I got this mini polish from the Winter 2013 Collection and again I really liked this one due to not needing a base colour underneath. The dark red polish with red glitter in looked really nice during December.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Fuchsia Clandestin - I loved wearing this lipstick on nights out as it's a really glamourous raspberry red shade that stays on for hours. It has a smooth finish that is moisturising on the lips without being overly glossy but it's not matte either. It certainly lasted me through many drinks! Check out this post if you want to see some swatches.

Rimmel Apocalips in Nova* - I originally overlooked this colour from the Apocalips range but when I took part in the Fragrance Direct NYE challenge, I picked this as I thought it would go with a bolder eye look. It's a lovely rosy dark pink that is very pigmented. See it in action here.

So that's my December favourites and I'll be sharing my 2013 favourites with you very soon.
