I've done a fair bit of shopping over the last few weeks so I thought I'd show you some of the stuff I've been buying. Well, the stuff I haven't opened yet anyway...
Before I begin, I know I shop way too much for one person and this isn't showing off, I just like to read haul posts myself so I thought I'd share my purchases with you. Next month I'm going to try my hardest not to buy any makeup as I've definitely bought way too much in the last few months. I'm calling this challenge #ProjectHouseDeposit and I wrote a little post about that here.
I bought into the massive Maybelline Baby Lips craze and since I don't really do things by halves, I went for all 6. I was desperate to get my hands on them and scoured Boots almost every day for a few weeks before getting my hands on 5 of them and then later picking up the 6th in Superdrug. Despite being so excited to buy them, they are still sitting unopened two weeks later. Oops! I will use them very soon though and I think I'm most looking forward to trying the tinted ones - Cherry Me, Pink Punch and Peach Kiss.
Since buying the full Baby Lips collection took two attempts and the products were on 3 for 2, I ended up with 3 extra goodies in the process. All things I've been wanting to try though so that was good. I bought my first Maybelline Color Show nail polish and the neon shades have been calling out to me for weeks so I went for the shade Fuchsia Fever a gorgeous purple shade. I also picked up a Super Stay Gel Nail Color in Hot Salsa a bold coral shade, as if I don't have enough corals! It's a stunning colour though and I'm interested to see what the gel finish is like. Finally I've got my hands on a Color Tattoo eyeshadow which I've heard so many good things about. I chose the shade On and on Bronze as it seemed the most wearable.
I knew Boots had a 3 for £12 deal on Lee Stafford products at the moment and as I spied I was running out of my usual Lee Stafford Poker Straight Flat Iron Protection Mist, I knew I was going to head to Boots to take advantage of their offer. Instead of picking up my usual heat protection spray, I spotted a different one called Professional Straightening Iron Protection Mist and I think the difference with this one is that it protects the hair up to 250 degrees celsius. I was sold when I read that as I think ghds heat up to 230 degrees! For my other two items I chose the Breaking Hair Treatment and the Breaking Hair Split Ends Serum. I like the treatment pots and I'm not sure if I've tried this one before but I thought it would be a good one to try. I haven't used a serum for ages so I fancied giving this one a go. I love the scent of Lee Stafford products and my fiance always says my hair smells nice when I've used some.
I've been eyeing up the new L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection products as they had testers out in Boots. My fiance wasn't happy when I made him hold all of my Baby Lips and nail polish whilst I started swatching them all. Should have got a basket! Anyway, I didn't buy anything that time but after returning a few times and swatching a bit more, I settled for the Awakening + Correcting Eye Cream which is meant to conceal dark circles, reduce eye bags and smooth fine lines. It's tinted and comes in one 'universal shade'. I bought this as I'm getting a little bored of my Kiehl's eye cream but I've done pretty well just using that since Christmas I suppose. This had a really smooth, velvet like texture that I think will be great as a base for my usual concealer. I'm looking forward to trying this one. I really wanted their BB Cream in the fair shade as well but I stopped myself. Very unusual behaviour ;)
I picked up a few Sanctuary Spa sachets on 3 for 2 as I wanted some of their Detox Hair Exfoliator. I've used this before and I think it was good so I thought I'd put some on once a week for a few weeks. It's supposed to strip away the build up of hair products and prime your hair and scalp ready for using your shampoo and conditioner. I don't really use a clarifying shampoo at the minute so I thought this would be a good alternative. As they only had 2 sachets of that left, I added a Salt Scrub to my basket for a nice pampering shower one day.
I don't tend to shop at the The Body Shop very often as they usually have really good deals online such as 40% off so I never want to pay full price in there but I had a little wander in and got sucked into a 3 for 2 offer on makeup, skincare and body products. I've seen a new Camomile skincare range on several blogs and just had to try the Sumptuous Cleansing Butter in the hope it will be like one of the more expensive cleaning balms on the market today! Fingers crossed! I'm really into body mists at the minute and love the Strawberry scented products so I combined those two loves and bought their Strawberry Body Mist. Mmm smells good! Another blog reading inspired purchase is the Colour Crush lipstick. I went for the shade 'Innocent Pink' which is like a soft, nude pink. I never really buy makeup from The Body Shop so I'm looking forward to trying it.
For a while now I've been tempted by the Essie polishes on the Fragrance Direct website as they are only £1.99, a massive saving compared to their price in Boots - £7.99. Yes, they tend to be the limited edition shades that aren't available in Boots anymore but you can get some lovely colours. I did order 3 but one of them ended up being out of stock so I was given a refund for that. The shades I received are Madison Ave-hue, a shimmery pink with a hint of purple and Avenue Maintain, a mid blue shade.
I had no intention of buying anything from MAC this month but whilst cutting through Fenwick on one of my lunch breaks and stopping to swatch their Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Adored' from the Tropical Taboo collection I was hooked on the shimmery, beige and coral goodness so I snapped that up. Also I'd been thinking recently about how I love the coverage of MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation but my bottle of NC15 just wasn't getting used as it's a little too dark. When I saw a lighter NW10 shade, I asked one of the MUA's to try it on me and it seemed like a great match so that ended up being purchased too.
Well that's it for my haul. I've certainly got a lot of stuff to review here so that's going to be where I'm putting my energy next month, rather than racing round the shops buying everything in sight. Lets hope so anyway!
