2011 Favourites

Good afternoon :)

I just wanted to show you my favourite products from 2011. Most of these are products I discovered in 2011 with a few old favourites thrown in. All of these products were well reached for and I loved each and every one of them.

It may not come as much of a surprise that I have 3 Elemis items in my favourites. My love really blossomed for Elemis products in 2011 which resulted in me choosing quite a few of their products for Christmas!

Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser is the best cleanser I've ever used. It's the most expensive one I've ever used at £27.60 but for me it's so worth it. It leaves my skin feeling throughly clean but hydrated at the same time. I hate using cleansers that dry the skin out and make it feel really tight.

I follow the cleanser with the Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner which is something I've purchased 3 times now which shows how much I rate it. This smells gorgeous, even my fiance comments on how good the scent is when I spray it! As the name suggests, it really is soothing on the skin as it doesn't strip the skin at all. I love the spray applicator too as you can spray it onto cotton wool or straight onto the skin. This toner is also rather pricey at £19.40 but I've seen a great deal at John Lewis and Debenhams. You can currently buy a cleanser and toner (a few different types) for £27.60. (John Lewis link). This is amazing value and if I wasn't backed up with skincare from Christmas I would purchase a set for myself.

I've used several facial moisturisers this year but I'm mostly loving this Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. The one in the photo is only a small sample size but I also received a 30ml version for Christmas. It really packs moisture into the skin without leaving it greasy. I just wish it contained SPF as well - then it would be perfect!

Clinique All About Eyes Rich is something else I've repurchased a few times. It's the best eye cream I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot! It's so rich and creamy so it leaves the eye area extremely hydrated and provides a great base for concealer to be applied.

No7 Eye Make-up Remover is an absolute bargain when bought with the £5 vouchers Boots regularly give out. I've used this for years pretty much non stop as it gentle on the eye area and doesn't dry it out. It still manages to remove all of my eye makeup as well so I couldn't wish for a better eye makeup remover.

A gift I received for Christmas 2010 is Benefit Her Name Was Glowla. I've used this set loads this year as it contains my favourite blush of 2011 - Coralista! I love the beautiful glow this gives to the cheeks. It's great on my pale skin for a night out. I also love the lipgloss in this set, a lovely pinky nude that smells delicious and isn't sticky. Another favourite in this set is the sample size High Beam, love this for brightening the inner eye area.

Another palette I loved in 2011 was Urban Decay Naked. This contains a great range of eye shadows suitable for day and night. I love all of the colours and the formula is fab - really smooth and pigmented. I can't decide whether to buy "Naked 2" or not. It looks great but it's obviously quite similar to this palette. Let me know your thoughts about the new palette in the comments box :)

My favourite perfume of 2011 is a new scent - Prada Candy which was released in the summer. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to have it! I knew from the description I would LOVE it and I was right. It smells like vanilla and caramel. It's really sweet but it doesn't smell cheap. I was hoping to pick up a gift set from the sales after Christmas but I missed out.

I love using face masks and although I own a few expensive Elemis ones I prefer the masks by Montagne Jeunesse. They only cost about a pound but they have loads of different types including wash off, peel off and fabric masks. I love all of the ones I've tried but I think the Strawberry Souffle one has to be my favourite since it smells so good I want to eat it! I've noticed Superdrug often have deals on where you can buy 4 for the price of 3 so even better value!

Finally on to the makeup I loved in 2011. My favourite lipgloss was one I discovered in December but I love everything about it! It's the YSL Golden Gloss in shade 47 from the Look Noel collection. The packaging is beautiful, just as it is on all of the YSL makeup. This colour is unlike anything else I own, at first when I saw it I thought the colour was amazing but I wasn't sure it would look good on the lips but it really does. The formulation is also great - its glossy, has lots of sparkly bits in and it's not too sticky.

The Pressed Powder I loved all year was Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Translucent Powder. It doesn't look cakey on the skin and it gets rid of any shine I have after applying foundation. I am quite tempted by MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural for 2012 as it looks really nice but I do have a lot of my Too Faced powder left so we'll have to see!

My favourite foundation is something I repurchased towards the end of 2011. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation is what I went for. I love the full coverage this foundation gives as it does a fantastic job of covering any spots/scars I have on my chin and makes the redness around my nose disappear. It also applies flawlessly and doesn't leave dry patches like other foundations I've tried.

I've tried many concealers over the last 10 years and Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer is one of the best at covering my dark circles around my eyes. This is definately the best drugstore/high street one I've tried. It's definately worth trying this as it's so cheap but does a brilliant job.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is great for helping eyeshadows stick to my oily eyelids. It makes my eyeshadow last for hours which is great as I can't be bothered with touch ups during the day!

My final favourite is Sleek Pout Polish. Up until a few days ago I only owned the Peach Perfection shade but I've now purchased two more since I love this so much. It's great as it keeps the lips moisturised, protected from the sun and it provides a lovely sheer tint. Best lip tint/balm ever!

I didn't think this post was going to be so long! Thanks so much if you've managed to read this until the end. 2011 was a great year and I enjoyed trying out lots of products. I'm sure there will be many more in 2012 - even if I do need to save more money this year!

Please send links to your 2011 favourites as I love to read/watch them.

Thanks again for reading,

Suzy

  4. @bearinablouse - Hehe I like your plan :) You can ask for samples at a MAC counter if you want to try the foundation first without paying for the full bottle. I got a little sample pot before I bought my current bottle and since I don't wear foundation very often it lasted ages! hehe xx
